Yeah see houses were better. I just looked it up do you know the average rent was $30. That's insane. Bread was like 20-something cents. You could go to the 50s now with just what's in your bank account and probably live off it for a few years.

@@shadycnetwork But dude... That's how inflation works... We'd definitely live like kings with today's money, but that's not actually why the economy was better. Its extremely complicated with stuff like our postwar economy, women entering the workforce, Europe and Asia being bombed into oblivion, etc. I totally wish we had it as good as them, or even the 80s, but I wouldn't go trade that for what we have now

@@westcoastwilly6261 I think the reason things were better back than economically is the taxes on the rich were much higher. That was not long after what we call the Golden age of economic expansion. The tax rate on the rich was something like 90% back then
